Track and Field: Raiders Start Outdoor Season with 10 Victories

ALLIANCE, Ohio—Mount Union's track and field team got the outdoor season going winning 10 events at the Stark County Challenge on Friday afternoon in Kehres Stadium.
 
Brady Burrey led the way for the Purple Raiders winning the javelin with a toss of 187-feet 9-inches which is the top spot in Division III currently.
 
Kenadee Wayt grabbed a win in Charlotte in the 400-Meters running a 55.81 which is the top time this season for Division III and would have made the national meet last season.
 
Makayla Sitzlar grabbed second in the women's shot put with a toss of 41-feet 5.75-inches which is good for third in Division III.
 
Kalie Campbell won the women's long jump leaping 17-feet 11-inches which ranks fifth in the nation currently.
 
Carlie Besecker won the women's 800-Meters with Maddy Miles finishing second right behind in times of 2:24.33 and 2:24.55.
 
The men took the top 12 spots in the 800-Meters as Dylan Easterling won with a time of 1:58.00 with Ty Pratt and Josh Schoonover right behind finishing in times of 1:58.50.
 
The men's 400-Meter hurdles took the top three spots with Jacob Jarrett picking up the victory with a time of 57.33 while Jacob Newby (2nd) and Zach Stinson (3rd) finished with time of 58.11 and 58.13.
 
Jarett, Easterling and Schoonover teamed up with Nick Scherson to win the 4x400-Meter relay with a time of 3:25.19.
 
Mount Union took the top two spots in the men's long jump with Tex Malloy winning and Eli Edwards taking second with jumps of 20-feet 9.25-inches and 20-feet 6.25-inches.
 
Stephen Ulrich picked up the victory in the 5,000-Meters running a 15:09.27.
 
Marah Bethel won the women's 1,500-Meters with a time of 4:59.90
 
Wyatt Freeman finished second in the men's javelin throwing 149-feet 5-inches.
 
Jessica Mason and Annalyse Ames finished tied second in the women's pole vault with a leap of 10-feet 9.5-inches.
 
Ryan Schnering and Zach Stinson tied for second in the men's high jump with a leap of 5-feet 10.75-inches.
 
Makenna Oszust tied for second in the women's high jump with a leap of 4-feet 9-inches.
 
Avonlea Jefferson finished second in the women's 400-Meters with a time of 1:08.12.
 
Becca Santom finished second in the women's triple jump with a leap of 31-feet 4.75-inches.
 
Deuce Mays also grabbed second place in the triple jump but for the men with a leap of 39-feet 4-inches.
 
Mount Union will compete next weekend on Friday and Saturday at Carnegie Mellon or West Liberty.
