GENEVA, Ohio—One last time this season a decorated crew will look to lead the way with an inexperienced few on the track at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio starting Thursday, May 22.
The women's side brings back three athletes that have made a name for themselves and crested a legacy at Mount Union that will last a lifetime.
Starting with Graduate Student
Kenadee Wayt currently a five-time individual National Champion, 19 time All-American and holds 14 school records will be competing in the 4x400 Meter Relay on Thursday and the 400 Meter Dash on Friday with a chance to compete in the finals on Saturday. Was the 2024 Elite 90 Indoor Track and Field and 2023 Elite 90 Outdoor Track and Field award winner and was nominated for the 2023 NCAA Women of the Year award.
Graduate Student
Madison Miles currently is a 10 time All-American, eight-time OAC Champion and is apart of four school records will be right by the side of Wayt also competing in the 4x400 Meter Relay and the 400 Meter Dash. Miles was a 2024 NCAA Women of the Year finalist.
Senior
Mary Mason currently is a five-time All-American, 14 time OAC Champion and is apart of six school records will be with Mile and Wayt on the 4x400 Meter Relay and competing in the 800 Meter Run. Mason was just named the 2025 Elite 90 Outdoor Track and Field award winner this afternoon.
The last athlete joining the three women on the 4x400 Meter Relay will be a newcomer in freshman
Carlie Besecker. Besecker played basketball for the indoor season but then came out for the outdoor season and excelled with an OAC Championships in the 4x400 Meter Relay and having All-OAC honors taking third in the 400-Meters.
On the men's side it is quite the opposite as there will be just one returner to the national scene and four newbies.
Graduate Student
Vincent Giumenti returns to the national scene for the second time this season as he earned All-American honors placing sixth in the Mile at the indoor nationals this year. He has made now five track national championships and three cross country championships. He is also an eight-time OAC Champion. He will compete in the 1,500-Meters running on Thursday and Saturday.
The other four athletes are all new to the national scene as graduate student
Nick Scherson is joined by three freshmen in
Logan Butcher,
Drew Fouche and
Yahir Hill.
Scherson has an OAC title and two All-OAC honors after transferring to Mount Union from Wooster. He will be competing in the 4x400 Meter Relay on Thursday and Saturday.
Butcher was on the football team at Mount Union and had some injuries to start the indoor season but has come on strong in the outdoor season having also an OAC Title and two All-OAC honors. He will be competing in the 400-Meters on Friday/Saturday and the 4x400 Meter Relay on Thursday and Saturday.
Hill already has made an immediate impact for Mount Union picking up two OAC Titles so far and three All-OAC honors. He will be competing in the 4x400-Meter Relay on Thursday and Saturday.
Fouche like Butcher had some injuries during the indoor season but got going in the outdoor season earning an All-OAC honor. He will be competing in the 4x400-Meter Relay on Thursday and Saturday.
