ALLIANCE, Ohio- The Mount Union women's swimming and diving team defeated Hiram, 123-44, in their second non-conference meet on Saturday afternoon
Leading the Purple Raiders were Rose Aldo (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) and Dana Lautenschleger (Solon/Solon). The duo each won three events as Mount Union won all but two events on the day.
Aldo won 100 yard freestyle (57.44) and Lautenschleger won the 100 yard backstroke (1:02.37) while both were on the winning 400 yard medley and the 400 yard freestyle relay with finals times of 4:16.34 and 4:04.25. The 400 yard medley also included Regina Saxon (Hudson/Hudson), and Caroline Buehl (Middleburg Heights/Berea) while the 400 yard freestyle relay also included Jessica Hirsh (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) and Ann Zielasko (Silve Lake/Archbishop Hoban).
Others placing first in their events were senior Rebecca Oblak (Strongsville/Strongsville) in the 1000 yard freestyle (11:40.57), Megan Leibensperger (Uniontown/Uniontown) in the 200 yard freestyle (2:07.89), Hirsh in the 50 yard freestyle (26.83), Sarah Gonda (Boardman/Boardman) in the 200 yard IM (2:27.53), and Mallory Glenn (Bowling Green/Bowling Green) in the 100 yard butterfly (1:06.61).
In diving action, Mount Union's Leah Nice (Cuyahoga Falls/CVCA) placed first in the one-meter dive with a score of 161.05.
Mount Union will next travel to Ohio Wesleyan for swimming action on Friday, November 6 at 6 pm
