HIRAM, Ohio – The Mount Union women's swimming and diving team defeated Hiram, 145-64, in their second non-conference meet on Saturday afternoon.
Leading the way for the Purple Raiders were juniors Rose Aldo (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) and Kaitlyn Goldsmith (Galloway/Hilliard Bradley). The duo each won a pair of events as Mount Union won all but two events on the day.
Aldo won the 100 backstroke (1:13.65) and Goldsmith swept the 50 freestyle (29.44) while both were on the winning 400 medley relay team with junior Jessica Swanson (Uniontown/Lake) and freshman Jacquelyn Jarachovic (North Olmsted/North Olmsted) with a final time of 4:50.77.
Others placing first in their events were junior Lauren Lammlein (Uniontown/Hoover) in the 800 freestyle (10:13.73), freshman Dana Lautenschleger (Solon/Solon) in the 200 freestyle (2:22.23) freshman Ainsley Wilbur(Stow/Stow-Monroe Falls) in the 200 IM (2:44.92), junior Caroline Buehl (Middleburg Heights/Berea) in the 100 butterfly (1:14.74), freshman Jessica Hirsh (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) in the 100 freestyle (1:05.22) and freshman Megan Leibensperger (Uniontown/Green) in the 400 freestyle (4:58.47).
In diving action, junior Sabrina Skelly (Massillon/Massillon Washington) won the 1 meter diving event with a score of 183.85.
Mount Union (2-0) will next travel to Defiance for swimming action on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 1 pm.
