HIRAM, Ohio --Mount Union's womens swimming and diving team defeated Hiram 168-120, in a non-conference swim meet, Saturday afternoon, Oct. 27th
With the win, Mount Union improves its record to 3-0, while Hiram falls to 0-2.
The Purple Raiders were victorious in 11 events on the afternoon.
Junior Courtney Gabel (Freemont/Freemont Ross) took first place in three individual events, the 200 meter freestyle (2:19.96), 50 meter freestyle (28.07), and the 100 meter butterfly (1:10.36). Gable also took a first in the 400 meter medley relay which included: Alex Hamit (Massillon/Perry), Jessica Swanson (Uniontown/Lake), and Kaitlyn Goldsmith (Galloway/Hilliard Bradley).
Freshman Lauren Lammlein (Uniontown/Hoover) swam to a first place finish in two individual events, the 400 meter freestyle (4:56.53 ) and the 800 meter freestyle (10:14.11).
Freshman Rose Aldo (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) looks impressive in finishing first in the 200 meter backstroke (2:36.19)
Freshman diver Sara Fountain (North Ridgeville/Fairview) gave the Raiders some much needed diving points by placing second in the one meter diving competition (157.90).
Mount Union returns to the pool Nov 9th for its first Ohio Athletic Conference meet of the year, when it hosts John Carroll.
