HIRAM, Ohio -- Nine different student-athletes claimed individual victories for the Mount Union women's swimming and diving team as the Purple Raiders defeated Hiram, 151-121, in a non-conference meet on Friday.
Taylor Harrison (New Philadelphia/New Philadelphia) and Alyson Koleser (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) won events and were part of Mount Union's winning 200-meter medley relay team.
Harrison claimed her victory in the 200 freestyle (2:14.93) while Kolesar won the 100 backstroke (1:11.34). Both joined Callie Jesso (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant) and Jennie Ciccantelli (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) on the medley relay team, which opened the meet with its finish in 2:12.48.
In the freestyle events, Elizabeth Juran (Independence/Independence) touched first in the 400 (5:04.01) and Kerry McCann (Bow, N.H./Bow) bested the 800 field (10:25.17).
Allison Davila (Middleburg Heights/Midpark) and Victoria Ljubi (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) won the 100 and 200 breaststrokes, respectively, with times of 1:24.22 and 2:58.20.
Katy Alkire (Akron/Firestone) added a win in the 200 butterfly (2:49.12) while Shelbey Mitchell (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) took first in the 200 backstroke (2:38.10). In 1-meter diving, Tia Marquinez (Hudson/Walsh Jesuit) was a winner with 211.65 points.
The 400 free relay team of Harrison, Courtney Gabel (Fremont/Fremont Ross), Ciccantelli and Kolesar did not gain an official victory, but swam the meet's top time (4:16.54).
The Raiders (2-1) will return to action on Saturday when they host Ohio Wesleyan in the Hammond Natatorium at 1 p.m.
