ALLIANCE-Ohio - The Mount Union women's swimming and diving team fought till the end, but fell just short in a 125-112 loss to Wooster Friday night in the Hammond Natatorium.
Mount Union trailed 112-108 before finishing just nine-tenths of a second behind Wooster in the final relay. A event win would have giving the Raiders a big win over a strong Fighting Scot team.
"We are really proud of the way we swam tonight. We have be practicing hard, and to come that close to beating a team like Wooster, I think we have great things in our future," said junior Alyson Kolesar (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) after the meet.
Kolesar led the Raiders with a pair of wins in both the 200- and 500-Yard Freestyle events.
Elizabeth Juran (Independence/ Independence) also scored a win for the Raiders in the 50-Yard Freestyle (25.74).
Coach Eric Mojock was impressed with his team after the meet.
"We swam a great meet tonight," he said. "I'm really proud of the way we have been working in practice, and it showed up. They should be really proud of themselves."
The Raiders will swim their first OAC meet Wednesday, as they take on OAC-rival John Carroll, 6 pm in the Hammond Natatorium.
