In the first event in the newly remodeled Hammond Natarorum
within the new McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex, junior
diver Mary
Vallinger (Poland/Poland Seminary) set new school and pool
records and qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships
with a score of 273.50 in the 1m Dive.
Sophomore Allison
Davila (Middleberg Heights/Midpark) had her best time of
the seaosn in the 200 Breaststroke (2:41.79). Also the 400
Medley Relay team also posted its best mark of the year with a time
of 4:20.49.
Other top performances came from sophomores Sarah Noble
(Copley/Copley), Kayla Aldan
(Boardman/Boardman), Alyson
Kolesar (Stow/Stow) and Taylor
Harrison (New Philadelphia/New Philadelphia) along
with freshman Katy Alkire
(Akron/Firestone). Noble who won the 200 Freestyle (2:03.56)
and 200 Butterfly (2:23.04), Aldan won the 500 Freestyle (5:48.45),
Kolesar won the 50 Freestyle (25.89) and the 200 Backstroke
(2:15.96), Harrison won the 100 Freestyle (58.06) while Alkire
claimed first in the 200 IM (2:20.94).
The men's team won the 400 Medley (3:55.60) and 400
Freestyle (3:27.09) Relays.
Both teams compete Saturday in the Ohio Athletic Conference
opener at John Carroll.
