Track and Field: Mason Improves Spot on National Rankings at Tufts

ADA, Ohio/BOSTON, Massachusetts— The Mount Union track and field team split meets at Ohio Northern and Tufts Friday and Saturday as part of last chance meets looking for qualifying spots into next week's NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships.

The top 20 spots and top 12 relays will make it to the national meet next weekend in Rochester, N.Y.

Mary Mason improved her spot on the national ranking list, taking home the victory at Tufts in the 800 meters, running a 2:12.36, which is currently ninth in the rankings.

Makayla Sitzlar improved her shot-put ranking, finishing second in the shot put with a toss of 43 feet 10 inches, which currently sits 28th in the country.

Ryder Greenwood won the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.85, which is .01 behind his best this season, which is currently ranked tied for 24th. Greenwood also picked up the win in the 200 meters with a time of 22.17. He currently ranks tied for 22nd with a time of 21.98.

Cameron Nightingale picked up the win in the pole vault with a leap of 15 feet 1.5 inches.

The quartet of Alex Reese, Nick Scherson, Curtis Joppeck, and Vincent Giumenti won the distance medley relay with a time of 10:01.18.

Scherson joined Haden Gibson, Yahir Hill, and Calil McCray in the 4x400-meter relay, picking up the victory in a 3:19.77.

Mason Arth won the heptathlon at Ohio Northern, scoring a total of 4,408 points.

Madeline Burgess won the triple jump with a leap of 36 feet 3.5 inches.

Trey Woodley took home second in the 400 meters with a time of 50.33.

Brady Burrey also picked up top three honors in the 60 meters, running a 7.02 and finishing in third.

Mount Union will find out who is heading to nationals on Sunday when the NCAA posts the qualifiers on NCAA.com.
