Box Score 2 THOUSAND OAKS, California—The Mount Union men's volleyball team opened its season reverse sweeping the defending NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball in No. 3 nationally ranked Cal Lutheran and picked up another victory against Wisconsin Lutheran Friday night on the West Coast.
Mount Union picked up its largest victory in the history of the program taking down No. 3 Cal Lutheran in a reverse sweep with scores of 12-25, 21-25, 25-18, 26-24 and 15-11.
The Purple Raiders (2-0) was led by a quartet with
Jack McClure (Massillon / Jackson) leading the way with 15 kills.
A duo of middles with
Michael Bowler (Broadview Heights / Brecksville-Broadview Heights) and
Camden Weeg (Goodyear, Ariz. / Agua Fria) finsihed with 13 and 11 kills and
Owen Geissman (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA / Trabucco Hills) finsihed with 10 kills.
Will Heeney (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) finsiehd with 45 assist while
Aaron Armour (Waukesha, Wis. / Catholic Memorial) and
Peyton Koszelak (Eden, N.Y. / Eden) had 11 and 10 digs.
Cal Lutheran (1-1) was led by Jordan Cooper with 26 kills, Keaton Hendry with 41 assists and Braden Gonzales with nine digs.
Mount Union took down Wisconsin Lutheran (0-2) in four sets, 25-22, 25-17, 18-25 and 25-18 in the first game of the season.
Armour led the way with 11 kills with McClure having eight kills.
Heeney finished with 26 assists with Koszelak finsihing with 14 digs.
Brady Pitchler led Wisconsin Lutheran with 18 kills, James Biedenbender finished with 28 assist and nine digs.
Mount Union has a quick turnaround with a match up against No. 15 UC Santa Cruz at 6 PT/9ET tomorrow back at Cal Lutheran.
