NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – Mount Union women's lacrosse team had a school record five girls named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Great Lakes Region teams Friday afternoon headlined by graduate students
Katie Clark (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) and
Eden Kesler (Chagrin Falls / Kenston) being named First Team.
Clark and Kesler were named to the Great Lakes First Team All-Region while
Ella Nejad (Rocky River),
Delaney Brown (Butler, Pa. / Butler Area) and
Abby Lindkvist (Greenlawn, N.Y. / Harborfields) were named Great Lakes Second Team.
This was Clark's fifth All-Region award and third First Team nod and Kesler's second All-Region and first team nod.
Clark, a three-time Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Offensive Player of the Year, put together 44 goals and 76 assists good for 120 points which is first on the team in assists and points. She was named to USA Lacrosse Magazine Honorable Mention All-American earlier in the week.
Clark broke the career points (459), assists (233) and goals (226) record. She has also broken the single season assists record with 76 and the single game record with 10 assists. Clark currently sits second in assists per game in Division III with 4.0 per game, third in total assists, and seventh in points.
Kesler leads the team in draw controls (92), caused turnovers (29), ground balls (43) and is second in goals (51) and third in points (69).
Lindkvist, a three-time OAC Goalie of the Year, this season broke the career saves record, currently with 442. She leads the OAC in save percentage (49.3%), while second in goals per game (9.14) and wins (13). She has made 133 saves on the season, while allowing just 137 goals in 899:39 minutes of play.
Nejad leads the team in goals (67), second in draw controls (69) and points (79).
Brown anchors the defense which allowed 8.72 goals per game in OAC play which was the best in the OAC. She picked up 22 ground balls and caused 14 turnovers.
Clark and Kesler are now eligible to be named to a national IWLCA All-American team. The IWLCA will announce the 2024 IWLCA Division III All-American teams on May 23.
