Men's Lacrosse: Raiders Grab Massive Senior Day Victory

ALLIANCE, Ohio—Mount Union's men's lacrosse grabbed a high scoring 21-18 senior day victory over Capital in Ohio Athletic Conference play Friday afternoon.
 
This was just the third win ever over Capital in 12 tries. This also clinches a top five spot for the Purple Raiders in the OAC Tournament with a game to go which could see Mount Union jump up to as high as number three.
 
Mount Union (11-4, 5-3 OAC) was led by Talon Osmun (Mattawan, Mich. / Mattawan) with seven goals and an assist.
 
Grant Dunmire (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Hampton) picked up four goals with Mark Zusman (Willoughby / Willoughby South) scoring three goals.
 
Braylon Li (Richfield / Revere) picked up two goals with Spencer Logsdon (Akron / Archbishop Hoban), Liam Erwin (Victor, N.Y. / Victor Senior), Alec Feigel (Pittsburgh, PA / North Hills), and Vinny Marszalek (Angola, N.Y. / LakeShore) each scoring one goal.
 
Sean Hanson (Fairfax, Va. / W.T. Woodson) and Logan North (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) each had seven ground balls, Alec Blazer (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) had three caused turnovers while Logan Gunderman (Buffalo, N.Y. / Hamburg) made 12 saves in goal.
 
Mount Union honored its eight graduating seniors before the game in Dunmire, Erwin, North, Blazer, Gunderman, Alex Nicholas (Sanford, Fla. / Seminole), Cole Niemann (Idaho Falls, Id. / Idaho Falls) and Dane Matuscin (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Canon-McMillan).
 
Capital (5-9, 3-5 OAC) was led by Mason Spaulding, Charlie Howenstine and Evan Legner with three goals each. Luc Kadlic was in goal making eight saves.
 
Capital had a 6-5 lead after a back and forth first quarter. Mount Union responded with a 7-5 second quarter taking a 12-11 lead at the halftime break.
 
Capital came out in the third quarter, outscoring Mount Union 6-4, taking a 17-16 lead into the final quarter. Mount Union proceeded to outscore Capital five to one in the final quarter to take the victory.
 
Mount Union will head to University Heights on Wednesday taking on John Carroll at 7 PM in the OAC finale.
