UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio—Mount Union men's lacrosse team picked up a 12-11win over John Carroll for the first time since 2016 in Ohio Athletic Conference play Wednesday night.

With the win the Purple Raiders will await the tie breakers from the OAC but Mount Union appears to be the five seed heading to Westerville to take on Otterbein in the opening round of the OAC Tournament on Saturday.

Mount Union (11-4, 6-3 OAC) picks up its most conference wins in the history of the program. The Raiders had five different players score two goals in Talon Osmun (Mattawan, Mich. / Mattawan), Liam Erwin (Victor, N.Y. / Victor Senior), Grant Dunmire (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Hampton), Braylon Li (Richfield / Revere) and Sean Hanson (Fairfax, Va. / W.T. John Carroll (8-7, 6-3 OAC) had four different goal scorers with two goals with Casey LaForce leading the way with two goals and two assists. Devin Holder was in goal making 15 saves for John Carroll.

John Carroll opened the game scoring two goals but an Osmun and Logsdon goal tied the game up at the end of the first quarter.

Erwin kept the momentum going for Mount Union opening the second quarter with a goal leading 3-2. Both teams traded goals back and forth for the rest of the quarter until the final two goals going to John Carroll. Scoring for Mount Union in that stretch was Hanson and Osmun as John Carroll led 6-5 at the half.

John Carroll got its largest lead with a goal to start the third quarter. Mount Union got a goal from Li but again John Carroll responded with another goal. A Hanson goal got the game within one again but John Carroll pushed the score out to 9-7. A goal with 19 seconds left in the quarter from Zusman put Mount Union down just one heading into the final quarter.

Dunmire tied the game up and Li gave Mount Union a 10-9 lead starting the fourth quarter. John Carroll grabbed two goals, taking an 11-10 lead with 8:22 remaining. A goal from Dunmire with 5:13 tied the game up at 11. A hockey like goal from Erwin as he deflected it into goal gave Mount Union the 12-11 lead with 1:54 and Gunderman made a save with :49 second left and caused a turnover with 15 second left finished the game off.

Mount Union will now await the OAC for the Tournament seeding. The Raiders will play on Saturday at a time and place to be determined.
