Men's Volleyball: Raiders Win Five Set Thriller Over Wabash and Earn a Share of MCVL Regular Season Title

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Indiana—Mount Union's men's volleyball team fended off three match points in the fifth set and ended the match on an 8-2 run to earn at least a share of the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League Regular Season title Saturday afternoon.
 
Mount Union (17-8, 7-0 MCVL) took down Wabash (14-9, 2-3) in five sets 25-16, 22-25, 25-23, 26-28, and 17-15.
 
The Purple Raiders were led by Jack McClure (Massillon / Jackson) and Michael Bowler (Broadview Heights / Brecksville-Broadview Heights) with 18 and 17 kills. Bowler had a hitting percentage of .517 while Owen Geissman (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA / Trabucco Hills) finished with 11 kills on a hitting percentage of .409.
 
Will Heeney (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) finished with 50 assists with Aaron Armour (Waukesha, Wis. / Catholic Memorial) finishing with 12 kills along with 11 from McClure.
 
Wabash was led by Bawibawi Thang with 30 kills, Will Beikes with 52 assists and Piotr Wolan with 13 digs.
 
Mount Union finished the match with 64 kills and just 24 hitting errors for a hitting percentage of .288 while also adding 14 blocks and 40 digs. Wabash finished with 61 kills and 36 hitting errors for a hitting percentage of .175 to go alone with nine blocks and 40 digs.
 
Mount Union has clinched a top three seed into the tournament and will look to win the MCVL outright and earning the No. 1 seed on Saturday next weekend taking on Baldwin Wallace in Berea, Ohio at 1 PM.
