BEREA, Ohio—Mount Union's men's volleyball team completed an undefeated Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League record on Saturday winning in five sets, 25-19, 25-20, 23-25, 20-25 and 15-7, over Baldwin Wallace.
Mount Union has now won its second league title and its first outright title ever with the other title being a three-way tie in 2023.
Mount Union will now host he MCVL conference tournament next Friday and Saturday at the MAAC in Alliance with times to be determined later.
The Purple Raiders (18-8, 8-0 MCVL) were led by
Jack McClure (Massillon / Jackson) with 19 kills while
Jacob Nussdorfer (Lewis Center / Olentangy) and
Michael Bowler (Broadview Heights / Brecksville-Broadview Heights) each had 10 kills.
Will Heeney (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) led the way with 41 assists with
Peyton Koszelak (Eden, N.Y. / Eden) picking up 10 digs.
Bowler finished the match with six blocks while middle teammate
Camden Weeg (Goodyear, Ariz. / Agua Fria) finished with five blocks.
Baldwin Wallace (18-10, 6-2 MCVL) was led by Daniel Latham with 22 kills, Evan Herbst with 38 assists and David Abercrombie with 13 digs.
An even match up between the teams as Baldwin Wallace had more kills 54 to Mount Union's 52, Mount Union had less hitting errors and serving errors 34 total to Baldwin Wallace's 48 and Mount Union had more blocks 14-to-11 in the match.
Mount Union will host the MCVL tournament as they will take on the No. 4 seed Trine on Friday with a time to be determined.
