Men’s Volleyball: Raiders Reverse Sweep Trine to Earn MCVL Tournament Berth on Senior Day

ALLIANCE, Ohio—Mount Union's men's volleyball team reverse swept Trine, 22-25, 24-26, 25-23, 25-16 and 15-9, on senior day to earn a berth into the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League tournament.
 
Mount Union honored its six graduating seniors before the match in Aaron Armour (Waukesha, Wis. / Catholic Memorial), Jack McClure (Massillon / Jackson), Will Heeney (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit), Camden Weeg (Goodyear, Ariz. / Agua Fria), Jacob Nussdorfer (Lewis Center / Olentangy) and Max Kaiser (Lewis Center / Olentangy).
 
The Purple Raiders (16-8, 6-0 MCVL) were led by McClure with 22 kills while Michael Bowler (Broadview Heights / Brecksville-Broadview Heights) finished with 18 kills.
 
Heeney led the way in assists with 48 while Peyton Koszelak (Eden, N.Y. / Eden) had a game-high 15 digs with McClure picking up double digit digs with 10.
 
Trine (12-7, 2-2 MCVL) was led by Kevin Boncaro with 32 kills, Ryan McDonald with 49 assists and Bryan Maida with nine digs.
 
Mount Union dropped the first two sets of the day by small margins while coming back in the third set winning by two points. From there the Raiders won set four by nine points and the fifth set by six points to pick up the victory.  
 
Mount Union had 58 kills in the match with just 22 hitting errors for a hitting percentage of .275 while Trine had 58 kills with 28 hitting errors for a hitting percentage of .204.
 
Mount Union has just one game next week on Saturday traveling to Crawfordsville, Indiana to take on Wabash in MCVL play at 1 PM.
