Men's Volleyball: Peyton Koszelak Breaks Single Season Digs Record in Sweep of Calvin

ALLIANCE, Ohio—Sophomore Peyton Koszelak (Eden, N.Y. / Eden) broke the record for digs in a single season as Mount Union swept Calvin 25-16, 25-23 and 30-28 Friday night in Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League action.
 
Koszelak picked up 15 digs on the night moving him to 308 in the season and breaking the record held by Steven Grenier from 2021 with 301.
 
Mount Union (15-8, 5-0 MCVL) was led by a trio of Purple Raiders. Michael Bowler (Broadview Heights / Brecksville-Broadview Heights) finished with 10 kills while Camden Weeg (Goodyear, Ariz. / Agua Fria) and Jack McClure (Massillon / Jackson) each had nine kills.
 
 Will Heeney (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) and Max Kaiser (Lewis Center / Olentangy) shared setter duties as Heeney had 18 assists and Kaiser had 15. Koszelak led the way in digs with 15.
 
Calvin (6-14, 0-3 MCVL) was led by Brady Hudauskas with 10 kills, Cameron Dogger with 21 assists and Jake Davidson with 12 digs.
 
Mount Union controlled the first set finishing with nine kills and just four hitting errors while Calvin had eight kills and seven hitting errors.
 
The second set Mount Union upped its kills to 13 while staying with just four hitting errors and Calvin did the same with 12 kills and seven hitting errors.
 
The final set both teams once again upped the kills as Mount Union had 16 kills and four hitting errors with Calvin picking up 20 kills and seven hitting errors.
 
Mount Union will honor its six graduating seniors before the start of the match tomorrow against Trine at 1 PM.
