Men's Lacrosse: Raiders Fly Past Franciscan in Nonconference Match Up

ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union men's lacrosse team defeated Franciscan 22-9 Saturday afternoon in Kehres Stadium.
 
The Purple Raiders (2-0) were led by Talon Osmun (Mattawan, Mich. / Mattawan) with seven goals.
 
Vinny Marszalek (Angola, N.Y. / LakeShore) picked up three goals while Mark Zusman (Willoughby / Willoughby South), Liam Erwin (Victor, N. Y. / Victor), Grant Dunmire (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Hampton) and Dane Matuscin (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) each had two goals.
 
Spencer Logsdon (Akron / Hoban) led the way in assists with four and a goal. Josh Pasco (Wadsworth), Alec Feigel (Pittsburgh, PA / North Hills) and Todd Siford (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Shaler) each added a goal.
 
Logan North (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) was almost perfect on the draw winning 28 of 29 attempts and Logan Gunderman (Buffalo, N.Y. / Hamburg) got the win in goal with four saves.
 
Franciscan (0-1) was led by Joseph James with three goals, Ayden Burke grabbed four ground balls while James Masso made 13 saves in goal.
 
Mount Union jumped out to a 4-0 lead. Franciscan got a goal and then another two goals from the Raiders taking a 6-1 lead. Franciscan scored two more goals in the quarter before Mount Union got a late leading 7-3.
 
Mount Union extended the lead out to 11-3 before two goals from Franciscan but once again Mount Union got the final goal of the quarter taking a 12-5 lead into the halftime break.
 
The final two quarters Mount Union outscored Franciscan 10-4 as both quarters were scored 5-2 each.
 
Mount Union returns to play on Wednesday heading to Greenville, Pa. taking on Thiel (Pa.) at 7 PM.
