HIRAM, Ohio—The Mount Union men's volleyball team swept Hiram 25-20, 25-16 and 25-17 Tuesday evening.
The Purple Raiders (9-6) were led by
Michael Bowler (Broadview Heights / Brecksville-Broadview Heights) with a career-high 17 kills on just 22 attempts with one error for a .727 hitting percentage.
Will Heeney (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) finished the night with 27 assists while
Peyton Koszelak (Eden, N.Y. / Eden) finished with 12 digs.
Hiram (5-5) was led by Derek Chiang with 11 kills, Matthew Albano finished with 26 assists and Jackson Deubner finished with six digs.
The first set was the most competitive set for both teams as there was 10 ties and four lead changes. Mount Union had 11 kills and just four errors while Hiram had 13 kills and six errors to end the set.
The second set Mount Union had 13 kills and six errors while Hiram had just eight kills and four errors with there being just one lead change and one tie.
The final set Mount Union had 17 kills and just three errors while Hiram had 10 kills and seven errors as there was six ties in the set as Mount Union led the whole way.
Mount Union now will host a tri match with Aurora and Juniata at 1 and 5 PM on Saturday in the MAAC.
