PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Mount Union's women's soccer team defeated Chatham 4-3 in a non-conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars (4-2) scored just 21 seconds into the game when Morgan Anderson was able to find the back of the net.
The Purple Raiders (3-0-2) would answer when senior
Andrea Decker (Hilliard / Hilliard Bradley) found sophomore
Jillian Pidgeon (Homeworth / West Branch) for her first career goal to tie the game at one in the 10
th minute.
Chatham would retake the lead in the 15
th minute, this time off a goal by Emily Harvey. Decker would find the back of the net in the 21
st minute for Mount Union to tie the game at two.
The Raiders would then open the second half with another Decker goal to take their first lead of the game. But the Cougars would come back to tie it at three in the 61
st minute when Ainsley Smith was able to find the back of the net.
Decker would score her third goal of the game, to earn her first hat trick of the season and give Mount Union a 4-3 lead in the 78
th minute. The Raiders would hold off Chatham for the remainder of the game to earn a 4-3 win.
Mount Union returns home next when they host Wooster on Wednesday, September 21 at 7 p.m. in Kehres Stadium in Alliance.
