ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's softball team split a doubleheader with Otterbein in Ohio Athletic Conference play, losing game one 1-0 and taking game two 7-0 on Sunday afternoon.
The Cardinals (16-6, 5-3 OAC) and Purple Raiders (12-16, 2-6 OAC) went scoreless through the first six innings of game one, combining for just six hits. Otterbein broke the tie in the top of the seventh when Sami Ange hit an RBI that scored Isa Lewis, Mount Union was unable to score in the bottom half of the inning giving the Cardinals a 1-0 victory.

Peyton Morrison (Canton / GlenOak) pitched a complete game for the Raiders giving up just one run on five hits and striking out six in the loss.
Mount Union struck first in game two scoring a run in the bottom half of the first inning, when senior
Alyssa Rose (Madison) hit an RBI that scored junior
Grace Heath (Beloit / West Branch). The Raiders would add to their lead in the fourth inning when senior
Hanna Ingram (Stow) hit an RBI triple that scored Rose. Then, freshman
Adri George (Eastlake / North) hit an RBI single that scored Ingram and give Mount Union a 3-0 lead.
The Raiders would add three more runs in the bottom of the fifth, the first came off an RBI double from Rose that scored Heath and senior
Payton Guspyt (Port Washington / Indian Valley), then George hit a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Rose. Mount Union added another run in the bottom half of the sixth inning, coming off a sacrifice fly from junior
Alexis Temple (Mentor) that scored senior
Savannah Miner (Louisville) and give the Raiders a 7-0 victory.
Rose got the start in the circle for Mount Union and threw a no-hitter, while striking out seven.
The Raiders travel to University Heights, Ohio next to take on John Carroll on Wednesday, April 13, with game one of the doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. and game two following at 5 p.m.
