CLERMONT, Fla. – Mount Union's softball team dropped two games on Tuesday, losing to Roanoke (Va.) 2-1 and losing to Saint Benedict (Minn.) 7-3.
The Maroons (11-0) struck first scoring in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead. The Purple Raiders (4-5) would come back to tie the game in the top of the fourth when senior
Savannah Miner (Louisville) fouled out to left field allowing junior
Grace Heath (Beloit / West Branch) to score. Roanoke would reclaim the lead with a run in the bottom of the fifth and would go on to win 2-1.

Megan Zody (Westerville / Westerville Central) pitched a complete game for Mount Union giving up two runs on three hits and striking out two.
The Raiders struck first in game two against Saint Benedict scoring off a solo homerun by senior
Hanna Ingram (Stow) in the bottom of the second. The Bennies (7-0) scored in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings to take a 2-1 lead.
Mount Union would tie the game in the bottom half of the fifth when an error by Saint Benedict allowed sophomore
Lydia Wacker (Wellington / Black River) to score. The Bennies would reclaim the lead in the top of the sixth scoring three runs to take a 5-2 lead. The Raiders would cut the lead down to two off an RBI double by Ingram that scored senior
Alyssa Rose (Madison). Saint Benedict would go on to score two more runs in the top half of the seventh and go on to win 7-3.
Senior
Peyton Morrison (Canton / GlenOak) got the start in the circle for Mount Union and pitched five innings giving up two runs on three hits and striking out two. Senior
Ashley Cascio (Elyria / Elyria Catholic) came in and pitched an inning of relief giving up three runs on two hits and freshman
Madi Bidinger (Wadsworth) gave up two runs on two hits in one inning of relief.
The Raiders will play two more tomorrow taking on York (Pa.) at 9:15 a.m. and Mount St. Joseph at 11:15 a.m. at Hancock Park in Clermont, Fla.
