Gebhart and Ciotti Lead Raiders To OAC Victory

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's men's lacrosse team defeated Marietta 20-11 Wednesday night in Ohio Athletic Conference play at Mount Union Stadium.
 
Logan Gebhart (McDonald, Pa. / Canon-McMillian) and Eli Ciotti (Canonsburg, Pa. / Linsly) each scored a career-high five goals and had three assists each to lead the Purple Raiders (4-3, 1-1 OAC).
 
Alek Kungle (Hartville / Lake) and Connor O'Neil (Medina) each had three goals for Mount Union.
 
Connor Ficke had four goals to lead Marietta (2-7, 0-2 OAC).
 
Mount Union got off to a hot start with a goal 37 seconds into the game from Liam Erwin (Victor, N.Y. / Victor Senior). Marietta tied the game up just a little over a minute later but a goal from O'Neil, Ciotti and Kungle gave The Raiders a 4-1 lead. Marietta scored two goals to get within one but a goal from Ciotti again pushed the lead out to two.
 
The Raiders once again began the quarter on a 4-1 run this time with a goal from Ciotti, Kungle, Logan Addonizio (Wixom, Mich. / Walled Lake Western) and Connor Addison (Mishawaka, Ind. / South Bend). Marietta responded with three goals of its own to trail 9-7. Mount Union finished with two goals one a piece from Gebhart and Kungle to take an 11-7 lead into the halftime break.
 
Mount Union outscored Marietta in the third period 4-3 with two goals each from Gebhart and Ciotti.
 
In the fourth quarter the Raiders had two goals from O'Neil and Gebhart while Clay Wagner (Wadsworth) added a goal with Marietta scoring one for the final of 20-11.
 
Kyle Reihner (Lancaster, Pa. / Lancaster Prep) had 17 saves in goal for Mount Union.
 
Mount Union is scheduled to travel to Wooster, Friday, April 1 at 8 p.m. and then host Wilmington in OAC play Saturday, April 2 at 1 p.m.
