Kungle's Career Night Leads Raiders In Victory Over Wooster

WOOSTER, Ohio – Alek Kungle (Hartville / Lake) scored a career-high six goals in Mount Union's men's lacrosse 11-8 victory over Wooster Friday night at Andrew Field in John P. Papp Stadium.
 
Kungle scored a four of his career-high six goals in the second half to lead the Purple Raiders (6-3, 2-1 OAC).  
 
Mark Zusman (Willoughby / Willoughby South), Liam Erwin (Victor, N.Y. / Victor Senior), Logan Gebhart (McDonald, Pa. / Canon-McMillian), Connor O'Neil (Medina) and Clay Barkan (Chagrin Falls / Kenston) each scored one goal for Mount Union.
 
Max Fletcher had three goals to lead Wooster (3-5).
 
Wooster jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first quarter but goals from Kungle and Barkan tied the game up at 2 for Mount Union.
 
The Raiders began the second period with a man-up goal from Erwin. Wooster responded with a goal 40 seconds later however Kungle scored a goal for Mount Union 1:27 later.
 
Wooster finished off the second quarter with two goals to take a 5-4 lead into the halftime.
 
A goal from Gebhart and then two goals from Kungle got Mount Union it's largest lead of 7-5. A goal for Wooster with 13 second left in the third quarter cut the Raiders lead in half.
 
Mount Union got two goals from Kungle and one from O'Neil to take a 10-6 lead with 5:30 remaining in the fourth quarter.
 
Wooster scored two goals to get within two goals but a goal from Zusman closed the door for the Raiders as they picked up an 11-8 win.
 
Kyle Reihner (Scranton Pa. / Scranton  Prep) had 20 saves in goal for Mount Union.
 
Mount Union's game tomorrow against Wilmington was canceled as Raiders will next take the field on Wednesday, April 6 at 7 p.m. in Berea, Ohio taking on Baldwin Wallace.
