Volleyball Sweeps Muskingum; Mahnke Breaks Kill Record

(ALLIANCE, OH)--Senior Melissa Mahnke (North Royalton/North Royalton) broke the Mount Union all-time kills record during the second set of the Purple Raiders 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-19) Ohio Athletic Conference sweep of Muskingum Tuesday at The McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex in Alliance.

Mahnke, an All-American outside hitter, finished the match with a team-high 20 digs and 10 kills which gives her a total of 1,523 kills that bested the previous record of 1,516 by Kelly Roach (1997-2000).

Junior Katie Kmieck (Lakewood/Lakewood) led the team with 35 assists.

Muskingum fell top 10-12 on the season and 2-4 in the OAC.

Mount Union won its 23rd consecutive home match, improved to 19-4 overall and 5-1 in the OAC.

In fact the last team to beat the Raiders at home was Ohio Northern in 2007 and Mount Union hosts the No. 5 ranked Polar Bears in a key OAC matchup Saturday at 1 pm at The MAAC.
