John Homon

John Homon has spent the past three decades creating one of themost successful and respected cross country and track and fieldprograms in Ohio and the nation.

Homon enters his 31st season as the head men's cross country,track and field coach at Mount Union and has amassed more OhioAthletic Conference Championships (51) than any other coach inconference history.

In the spring of 2007, Homon was inducted into the NCAA DivisionIII Track and Field Hall of Fame.

In 2008, he guided Ty Griffin to a national title in the1500 meters at the NCAA Track & Field Championships to mark the50th athlete in school history to win a national title.  Twoyears ago, his men's outdoor track and field team claimed the OACtitle and finished fourth in the nation. 

His impressive resume includes 12 cross country, 20 indoor and 19outdoor conference crowns, as well as numerous top-10 finishes atthe Division III Nationals.

Homon graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physicaleducation from the University of Massachusetts in 1972. While atMassachusetts, Homon lettered two years in the shot put and discus.In 1979, he received his master’s in physical education fromthe University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
