ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union women's lacrosse team fell 18-9 to Hope Saturday morning at Kehres Stadium.
The Purple Raiders (2-4) were led by
Emma Kielbasa with three goals.
Anna Weinel and
Ella Nejad each scored two goals while
Haylee Handrahan and
Mae Pawlikowski each scored a goal.
Weinel picked up four groundballs with three caused turnovers while
Abby Reagan made five saves and Kaitlyn Kucazinski made two saves.
Hope (5-1) was led by Julia Brown with nine goals while Samantha Smith made six saves.
Hope got on the board first with a goal, but Mount Union quickly responded with two Kielbasa goals. Hope finished the first quarter with a 4-0 run leading 5-2.
A Handrahan goal got Mount Union going in the second quarter. Hope responded with a goal but Pawlikowski finished the half with a goal as Mount Union trailed 6-4.
Hope outscored Mount Union 7-1 in the third quarter as Weinel scored the only Raider goal of the quarter as Mount Union trailed 13-5.
Mount Union got within six twice in the final quarter but could not get any closer as Nejad had two goals, Kielbasa and Weinel each scored a goal.
Mount Union returns to play next Thursday at Kehres Stadium at 7 pm taking on Baldwin Wallace.
