WHEATON, Ill. – The Mount Union men's wrestling team competed in day one of the Pete Willson-Wheaton Invitational on Friday.
Junior
Steven Marra (Salem, Ohio/West Branch), nationally ranked No. 12, advanced to the semifinals of 285 and will be battling No. 4, nationally ranked Logan Flynn, from Arcadia, on Saturday for a chance to compete in the championship match.
The Purple Raiders will also have two representatives going for third place in their respective weight classes, as senior
Nolan Frye (Valley View, OH / Walsh Jesuit) at 133 and freshman
Aiden Stecker (Salem, OH / Salem) at 165 are in the consolation third-place bracket.
Also competing on Friday for Mount Union were freshman Mason Taylor (Millersburg, OH / West Holmes) at 125, freshman
Giovanni Duniec (Cleveland, OH / Padua Franciscan) at 157, and junior
Jacob Starkey (North Lima, OH / South Range) at 174.
The final day of the Pete Willson Invitational will wrap up Saturday, Jan. 31, starting at 12 p.m. Eastern.
