ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's women's soccer team defeated Chatham 2-0 in their home opener on Wednesday evening.
The Purple Raiders (1-1) would break the scoreless draw in the 66
th minute when sophomore
Rachel Chenos (Hilliard / Hilliard Bradley) was able to find junior
Ella Dinwiddie (Medina / Wadsworth) for the goal to take a 1-0 lead. Mount Union would then add to their lead in the 76
th minute when sophomore
Rachel Washburn (Columbia Station / Columbia) was able to find the back of the net to extend the lead to two goals.
The Cougars (0-2) wouldn't be able to find an answer over the final 14 minutes of action as the Raiders would go on to win 2-0.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Leanne Williams (Poland / Poland Seminary) recorded three saves in the win en route to her first career shutout.
The Raiders hit the road next as they travel to Greenville, Pa. to take on Thiel on Saturday, September 6 at noon.
