Averi Haley (Orrville) picked up her 1,000th career dig as the Mount Union women's volleyball team swept Case Western Reserve 25-16, 25-23 and 25-22 Wednesday night.
Haley led the Purple Raiders (3-2) in digs with 22 on the night as she stands now at 1,019 digs in her career.
Mount Union's middles of
Ava Bolen (Wellsburg, W. Va. / Brooke) and
Cami Welty (Willowick / Eastlake North) caused trouble all night as Bolen finished with eight blocks and seven kills and Welty finished with six kills on just 11 attempts.
Sadie Thomas (Cambridge Springs, Pa. / Maplewood) finished the night with a team-high nine kills and added double digit digs with 11. Mount Union split setter duties as
DeLani Durst (Clyde) and
Anna Mihacevich (Hinkley Padua / Franciscan) had 18 and 13 assists respectively.
Case Western Reserve (0-5) was led by Amanda Ngo with nine kills, Elena Esquivel with 16 assists and Sophia Datto with 23 digs.
Mount Union will now head up to Cleveland to take on Earlham and Olivet at the Case Tri Match on Saturday with the games beginning at 1 and 3 pm on the campus of Case Western Reserve.
