WAYNESBURG, Pa. – Mount Union's women's soccer lost 2-1 against Waynesburg in their season opener on Friday evening.
The Purple Raiders (0-1) got on the board first when sophomore
Rylee Hutton (Salem) found the back of the net off an assist from junior
Paige Klingensmith (Stow / Stow-Munroe Falls) to take a 1-0 lead in the 24
th minute.
The Yellow Jackets (1-0) would tie the game at a goal apiece in the 37
th minute when Julz Mohrbacher was able to find the back of the net. Waynesburg would then claim their first lead of the game in the 49
th minute, this time scoring off the foot of Miracle Hershey to take a 2-1 lead.
Mount Union wouldn't be able to answer over the final 41 minutes of the game as the Yellow Jackets would go on to win 2-1.
The Raiders return home next when they host Chatham in their home opener on Wednesday, September 3 at 7 p.m. in Kehres Stadium in Alliance.
