Jenkerson will oversee the strength and conditioning program for all 25 varsity Mount Union teams. He most recently was the head strength and conditioning coach at Fitchburg State in Massachusetts.

"I'm truly honored and excited to accept the position of Director of Sport Performance and Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of Mount Union," Jenkerson said. "Huge thanks to Athletic Director Mike Parnell, VP of Finance Pat Heddleston, Dr. Ron Mendal, and the entire search committee for the opportunity and their confidence in me. Prior to Fitchburg, Jenkerson worked in the private sector, where he was the strength and speed coach from 2014 to 2015 and worked directly with a range of competitors from high school to professional athletes. Additionally, Jenkerson was the Dartmouth College Director of Strength and Conditioning coach from 2011 to 2014. At Dartmouth, he analyzed individual student-athlete performances and training programs, including workouts and nutrition.

"David's experience in strength and conditioning is evident, and his passion for college athletics made him the right choice for Mount Union," said Director of Athletics Mike Parnell. "Having a strength and conditioning coach for all 25 sports allows all of our student-athletes to compete at their highest ability and contend for championships at the highest level."

Jenkerson has additional experience at Valdosta State University, Georgia Southern University, and Saint Anselm College.

Jenkerson earned a master's degree in physical education from Valdosta State University and a bachelor of science in exercise science from Springfield College.
