LANCASTER, Pennsylvania—The Mount Union women's lacrosse season came to an end in the First Round of the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament Saturday afternoon at Franklin and Marshall College.
The Purple Raiders fell to a strong Messiah team 20-4 in the first round.
Mount Union (14-5) had three different goal scorers with
Katie Clark (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) scoring two goals and
Eden Kesler (Chagrin Falls / Kenston) along with Reese Fuenstuck (Fairport, N.Y. / Fairport) scoring one.
Tara Santoro (Canfield) led the way on defense with three ground balls and a caused turnover while
Abby Lindkvist (Greenlawn, N.Y. / Harborfields) made three saves and
Abby Reagan (Columbus / St. Francis De Sales) made two saves.
Messiah (14-5) was led by Jordan Lewicki with five goals, Emma Hagg had four ground balls and Grace Hejeebu had six saves.
Mount Union will graduate eight players in Clark, Kesler, Santoro, Lindkvist,
Emily Funk (Strongsville),
Mackenzie Kolstad (Victor, N.Y. / Victor), and
Ella Sinopoli (Honeoye Falls, N.Y. / Honeoye Falls-Lima) and
Ashley Ray (Poland / Poland Seminary).
Mount Union will end a successful season winning the Ohio Athletic Conference regular season and tournament a first since 2019.
