Women's Lacrosse: Raiders Light Up Scoreboard in Win Over Oberlin

ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union women's lacrosse team used a strong first half to take down Oberlin 19-7 Wednesday night at Kehres Stadium.
 
The Purple Raiders (3-2) were led by Eden Kesler (Chagrin Falls / Kenston) and Ella Nejad (Rocky River) with five goals each.
 
Katie Clark (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) grabbed four goals and three assists while Reese Fuenfstueck (Fairport, N.Y. / Fairport) picked up three goals with Emma Labbe (Uniontown / Lake) and Liz Schumacher (Columbus / Upper Arlington) each picking up a goal. Emily Funk (Strongsville) had three assists tying Clark for the game-high.
 
Kesler had three caused turnovers and four groundballs while Labbe had seven draw controls.
 
Abby Lindkvist (Greenlawn, N.Y. / Harborfields) played all 60 minutes in goal and made five saves for Mount Union.
 
Oberlin (2-3) was led by Alexis Escobedo and Olivia Corradi with two goals each while Emily Berger picked up the loss in goal with five saves.
 
Mount Union got the first goal with a quick response from Oberlin. A goal just 12 seconds later from Kesler started a 4-0 run which saw a Clark and two Nejad goals to lead 5-1. Oberlin would grab one more before the quarter break as Mount Union led 5-2.
 
Mount Union began the second quarter with a 4-0 run as Kesler scored two goals and Fuenfstueck and Clark each got a goal to take a 9-2 lead. Oberlin grabbed a goal but another Mount Union 4-0 run to end the quarter as Clark, Fuenfstueck, Nejad and Labbe each scored to end the quarter leading 13-3.
 
Mount Union outscored Oberlin 6-4 in the second half keeping a 10-goal lead the rest of the way as Kesler scored two goals and Clark, Nejad, Fuenfstueck and Schumacher each scored a goal to end the game.
 
Mount Union heads on the road next to take on Hope in Holland, Michigan at noon on Saturday.
