Men's Lacrosse: Raiders Lead Wire-to-Wire in Win Over Allegheny

ALLIANCE, Ohio—Mount Union's men's lacrosse team led wire-to-wire in an 11-9 victory over Allegheny Wednesday night in Kehres Stadium.
 
The Purple Raiders (6-1) were led by Grant Dunmire (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Hampton) and Talon Osmun (Mattawan, Mich. / Mattawan) with three goals each.
 
Spencer Logsdon (Akron / Archbishop Hoban) added two goals while Mark Zusman (Willoughby / Willoughby South), Liam Erwin (Victor, N.Y. / Victor Senior) and Alec Feigel (Pittsburgh, PA / North Hills) each scored a goal.
 
Erwin led the team with three caused turnovers with Dane Matuscin (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Canon-McMillan), Sean Hanson (Fairfax, Va. / W.T. Woodson) and Alex Nicholas (Sanford, Fla. / Seminole) each picking up six ground balls.
 
Nicholas led the team in the faceoff circle winning 14 of 19 while Logan Gunderman (Buffalo, N.Y. / Hamburg) was in cage making nine saves in the win.
 
Allegheny (2-4) was led by JP Rakis, Tomi Horsley and Jack Cushwa with two goals each. Garin Stearns finished the game with six ground balls while being in goal as well making 19 saves.
 
Within the first three minutes of the game both Mount Union and Allegheny had two goals each as Dunmire and Erwin each had a goal. Mount Union got the remaining two goals in the quarter within 17 seconds of each other as Osmun and Logsdon each got one.
 
Allegheny began the second quarter with two goals to tie the game up at four. A goal from Zusman was quickly responded by a goal from Allegheny. A goal from Osmun and Feigel gave Mount Union a 7-5 lead going into halftime.
 
Both teams traded goals in the third quarter as Logsdon and Dunmire scored for Mount Union keeping its two goal lead up 9-7.
 
A goal from Allegheny began the quarter got them within one but a goal from Osmun gave Mount Union a two-goal lead again. Dunmire finished the night off with one last goal with two minutes remaining leading 11-8. Allegheny added one goal late but was too late.
 
Mount Union will open Ohio Athletic Conference play on Saturday hosting Ohio Northern at 1 PM.
