NASHVILLE, TN – The Mount Union men's wrestling team had a strong outing at the Gator Boot Duals, hosted by Luther College, on Saturday.
As a team, the Purple Raiders won a pair of duals: 35-12 over Mount St. Joseph and 36-17 over Ozarks. Averett defeated Mount Union by a slim margin, 24-23.
Five Raiders went undefeated in their respective weight classes, including two freshmen standouts,
Blaine Chrisman (Medina, OH / Medina) at 184 and
Aiden Stecker (Salem, OH / Salem) at 165. Chrisman pinned the 10th nationally ranked, second regionally ranked, and two-time national qualifier senior Khalil Mitchell out of Averett. Stecker beat the no. 3 regionally ranked and returning National qualifier, Xavier Swanson.
Also going unbeaten for the Raiders were junior
Steven Marra (Salem, Ohio / West Branch) at 285, sophomore
Josh Carman (Carrollton, OH / Carrollton) at 141, and freshman
Jack DeBoe (Mentor, OH / Mentor) at 149.
The Purple Raiders are back in action Saturday, Jan. 10 at the Claude Sharer Duals hosted by Case Western with an 11 a.m. start time.
