ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union men's volleyball team used an efficient hitting attack to sweep Hiram 25-18, 25-19 and 25-21 in its home opener Tuesday evening.
The Purple Raiders (5-3) were led by
Jack McClure (Massillon / Jackson) with 14 kills for a hitting percentage of .355 while
Michael Bowler (Broadview Heights / Brecksville-Broadview Heights) finished the night with nine kills on 11 swings for a hitting percentage of .818.
Will Heeney (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) finished the night with 29 assists while
Peyton Koszelak (Eden, N.Y. / Eden) finished with a team high eight digs.
Hiram (2-2) was led by Derek Chiang with 13 kills, Matthew Albano with 29 assists and Chiang with eight digs.
Mount Union is currently receiving votes in the last American Volleyball Coaches Association poll and will take on No. 13 nationally ranked UC Santa Cruz on Friday in Alliance, Ohio at 7 PM.
