PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania—Mount Union's women's volleyball team split a pair of matches Saturday afternoon at Carnegie Mellon University.
Mount Union (9-4) dropped its first match of the day in four sets, 22-25, 25-9, 19-25 and 21-25, to Susquehanna (5-6).
The Purple Raiders were led by sophomore
Riley Meister (Madison) with 15 kills while seniors
Heaven Bartell (Cleveland / St. Joseph Academy) and
Darby Leininger (Chardon / Beaumont) each had 12.
Senior
Casey Kildow (Bethesda / Union Local) and sophomore
Melissa Hansen (Hudson) finished with 25 assists each while Kildow led the way in digs with 20 digs.
Senior
Katelyn Lesko (Mineral Ridge) finished with 17 digs, sophomore
Averi Haley (Orrville) had 14 and Bartell finished with 13.
Sophomore
Ava Bolen (Wellsburg, W. Va. / Brooke) led the way with six blocks while freshman
Cami Welty (Eastlake / Eastlake North) finished with nine kills and four blocks.
In the second match of the day Mount Union swept Carnegie Mellon (7-5) 25-21, 25-17 and 26-24.
Bartell along with sophomore
Molly McKee (North Ridgeville) and
Sadie Thomas () all had 10 kills.
Hansen finished with 16 assists while Kildow had 15. Bartell led the way with 14 digs while Haley and Lesko picked up 13 digs. Once again on the blocking Bolen and Welty each had three.
Mount Union gets a week to prepare to head to Lexington, Kentucky as they will take on Mount St. Joseph at Transylvania University on Friday with an 11 am start time.
