ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union men's lacrosse team lost 10-9 in double overtime against John Carroll in the Ohio Athletic Conference play Wednesday evening.
The Purple Raiders (6-11, 2-7 OAC) were led
Mark Zusman (Willoughby / Willoughby South) with four goals.
Braylon Li (Richfield / Revere) and
Obrigh Tallchief (Angola, N.Y. / LakeShore) each had two goals while
Liam Erwin (Victor, N.Y. / Victor Senior) finished with a goal.
Logan Gunderman (Buffalo, N.Y. / Hamburg) was in goal making 14 saves for Mount Union.
John Carroll (9-4, 8-1 OAC) was led by Braden Zarek with 5 goals while Jon Gaglio made 10 saves.
FIRST QUARTER
Mount Union came out strong in the first quarter going on a 5-0 run and holding John Carroll defensively with 5 saves from Gunderman.
SECOND QUARTER
John Carroll came out with a 3-0 run in the second quarter. The Raiders were able to hold on to a 5-3 lead. Zusman broke John Carol's 3-0 run scoring the Raiders sixth goal that gave the Raiders a three-point lead going into the second half.
THIRD QUARTER
John Carroll went on a 4-0 run taking their first lead of the game. Tallchief tied the game back up with a goal late in the third quarter. John Carroll however took the lead back by scoring with 24 seconds left in the third. The Raiders took 4 shots in the last minute of the third but were unable to tie the game back up before the fourth quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER
Mount Union and John Carroll were in a back and forth scoring match with the Raiders scoring first to tie up the game. John Carroll responded taking the lead, however, with a little over five minutes on the clock the Raiders were able to tie up the game once again. The Raiders took a shot in the final seconds, but the shot was saved and forced overtime.
OVERTIME
John Carroll won the first faceoff, but the Raiders were able to play defense for a chance to score. John Carrol also forced a wide shot and took their second chance at a goal. Despite a turnover from the Raiders, another 4:00 were forced to be played. John Carroll found the back of the net in the second overtime to take the victory.
