GREENVILLE, Pennsylvania—Freshman
Obrigh Tallchief (Angola, N.Y. / LakeShore) tied the school record for goals with eight and points with 15 against Thiel (Pa.) as Mount Union won 23-7 Saturday afternoon.
Tallchief led the Purple Raiders (2-0) but Mount Union also got a five goal, two assist game from
Spencer Logsdon (Akron / Archbishop Hoban).
Liam Erwin (Victor, N.Y. / Victor Senior),
Braylon Li (Richfield / Revere),
Sly Sundown (Akron, N.Y. / Akron), and
Alec Feigel (Pittsburgh, PA / North Hills) each got two goals for the Raiders as well as
Vinny Marszalek (Angola, N.Y. / LakeShore) and
Noah Grigson (Portsmouth, R.I. / Bishp Stang) with one goal each.
Logan Gunderman (Buffalo, N.Y. / Hamburg) picked up the win in goal with seven saves and allowing just five goals.
Thiel (0-3) was led by Medyn Bennett with four goals and in goal for them making 11 saves was Ethan Narby.
Mount Union jumped out to a 5-2 lead after the first quarter and 11-2 after two quarters of play. In the third quarter Mount Union outscored Thiel 3-2 and in the fourth the Raiders put the game away scoring nine goals and allowing just three.
Mount Union returns to play on Wednesday, February 28th heading to Meadville, PA with a 7 PM matchup against Allegheny.
