Women's Soccer: Raiders Lose Road OAC Contest at Heidelberg

TIFFIN, Ohio – Mount Union's women's soccer team lost an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup 5-2 against Heidelberg on Saturday afternoon.

The Purple Raiders (4-9-1, 0-4-1 OAC) would strike first when freshman Rylee Hutton (Salem) found the back of the net in the third minute to take a 1-0 lead.

The Student Princes (9-2-3, 2-1-2 OAC) would answer with a goal of their own in the seventh minute when Camdyn Paul was able to net a goal to tie the game at a goal apiece. Heidelberg would then claim their first lead of the game in the 24th minute, scoring off the foot of Ella Marshall to take a 2-1 lead.

Mount Union would tie the game in 76th minute when freshman Mya Elison (Medina / Buckeye) found junior Iva Bruketa (Mentor / Lake Catholic) for her first career goal to tie the game at two.

However, just over a minute later the Student Princes would reclaim the lead when Syd Hewer found the back of the net. Heidelberg would then add a pair of insurance goals in the 83rd minutes when Mallory Zavatchen and Brianna Braatz scored to take a 5-2 lead.

Mount Union wouldn't have an answer over the remainder of the game as Heidelberg would go on to win 5-2.
