ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's men's soccer team beat Heidelberg 10-0 in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday evening.
It was senior night at Mount Union so before the game the six graduating seniors were honored those include:
Lucas Fields (West Chester / Lakota East),
Sam Falcone (Westlake),
Kabiona Ramadhani (Cleveland / Lincoln West),
Cody Lumby (Sunbury / Big Walnut),
Harrason Ahn (Akron / Copley) and
Jeremy Sgro (Olmsted Falls).
The Purple Raiders (11-4-1, 5-0 OAC) would strike first when sophomore
Dom Kustura (Willowick / Eastlake North) found fifth-year
Emilio Spetic (Chardon / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) for the goal to take a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute. Then, in the 17
th minute Spetic would pick up his first assist of the game when he found freshman
Amir Spratt (Kent / Kent Roosevelt) to stretch the lead to two goals. Just over a minute later fifth-year
Carter Hancock (Amherst / Marion L. Steele) found the back of the net off an assist from Kustura to make the lead 3-0.
Mount Union would add two more goals in the first half the first coming off the foot of sophomore
Alex Depperschmidt (Mansfield / Lexington) on an assist from Hancock, the second came from Lumby, who scored his first career goal off an assist from junior
Braedon Kennedy (Strongsville) to take a 5-0 lead into the halftime break.
Kennedy would then pick up his second assist of the game in the 55
th minute when he found sophomore
Tyler Harsch (Aliquippa, Pa. / Central Valley), then in the 58
th minute Spratt would find freshman
Keane McCauley (Canton, Mich.) for his first career goal to make the lead 7-0.
The Raiders would go on to add three more goals, scoring in the 73
rd minute when junior
Nyiles Spann (Stow / Stow-Munroe Falls) scored off an assist from freshman
Cameron Hernandez (Saltsburg, Pa. / Kiski Prep), then Falcone scored off an assist from Spetic in the 80
th minute and the final goal of the night came from Hancock on an assist from Ramadhani in the 83
rd minute.
The Student Princes (0-12-1, 0-5 OAC) didn't have an answer all night as Mount Union would go on to win 10-0.
Fields recorded one save en route to his fifth shutout win of the season.
The Raiders hit the road next when they travel to Berea for an OAC matchup against Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday, October 23 at 7 p.m.
