HIRAM, Ohio – Mount Union's women's soccer team beat Hiram 5-0 in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday evening.
The Purple Raiders (4-5) got on the board first in the seventh minute when Hiram scored an own goal to take a 1-0 lead. Mount Union would then add to that lead in the 36
th minute, this time scoring off a penalty kick from senior
Logan Godfrey (Huntingtown, Md.) to stretch the lead to two goals.
The Raiders would add a third goal the 63
rd minute when freshman
Rylee Hutton (Salem) found the back of the net off an assist from sophomore
Ella Dinwiddie (Medina / Wadsworth), then just 19 seconds later junior
Madeline Boulos (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Deer Lake) found the back of the net to stretch the lead to four goals. Mount Union would add a fifth goal in the 75
th minute when sophomore
Paige Klingensmith (Stow / Stow-Munroe Falls) scored off an assist from Dinwiddie.
The Terriers (2-8) wouldn't have an answer over the final 15 minutes of game time as the Raiders would go on to win 5-0.
Senior
Rylee Oldfield (Liberty Twp. / Lakota East) recorded three saves in her second shutout victory of the season.
The Raiders are back home next when they host Otterbein in their Ohio Athletic Conference opener on Saturday, October 5 at 1 p.m. in Kehres Stadium, it will also be Senior Night with the seniors getting recognized at 12:15 p.m.
