WOOSTER, Ohio – The No. 9 nationally ranked Mount Union men's soccer team defeated Wooster 3-1 in their final non-conference matchup on Wednesday evening.
The Purple Raiders (9-0-0) struck first when senior
Carter Hancock (Amherst / Marion L. Steele) found the back of the net in the eighth minute, scoring off an assist from sophomore
Braedon Kennedy (Strongsville) to take a 1-0 lead.
The Fighting Scots (3-4-2) would answer with a goal of their own in the 33
rd minute when Moody Saadi scored to tie the game at one.
Mount Union would retake the lead in the 58
th minute, scoring off a goal by senior
Omar Najjar (Akron / Revere) to take a 2-1 lead. The Raiders would then add to their lead in the 87
th minute when senior
Jamon McCort (Magnolia / Sandy Valley) was able to find the back of the net off an assist from senior
Brett Kayser (Cleveland / Lakewood St. Edward) to extend the lead to 3-1.
The Raiders open Ohio Athletic Conference play next when they head to Ada to take on Ohio Northern on Saturday, September 30 at 1 p.m.
