Women's Lacrosse: Raiders Claim OAC Regular Season Title With Victory Over Baldwin Wallace

BEREA, Ohio—The Mount Union women's lacrosse team defeated Baldwin Wallace 18-4 Wednesday evening to finish the Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season undefeated and earning the number one seed in the OAC Tournament for the first time since 2019.

This is the seventh regular season title the Purple Raiders have claimed with a string of championships from 2014 through the 2019 season. 
 
The Raiders (12-3, 7-0 OAC) was led by Julia Bates (East Lyme Conn.) scoring four goals and having three assists while Eden Kesler (Chagrin Falls / Kenston) finished with four goals.
 
Katie Clark (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) became the third ever Raider to have 100 career assist picking up three today and three goals as well.
 
Madi Karr (Newark, Del. / Newark Charter), Emily Funk (Strongsville) and Mackenzie Kolstad (Victor, N.Y. / Victor Senior) each scored two goals while Ella Nejad (Rocky River) had a goal.
 
Kesler once again led Mount Union with five ground balls while Tara Santoro (Canfield) had four caused turnovers.
 
Abby Lindkvist (Greenlawn, N.Y. / Haborfields) made six saves in the cage for the Raiders.
 
Baldwin Wallace (3-13, 1-6 OAC) was led by Deanna Loukas with two goals while Caroline Potteiger made eight saves.
 
Baldwin Wallace got the first goal of the game and then Mount Union took over scoring six in the first quarter and seven goals in the second quarter to take a 13-1 lead into halftime.
 
Mount Union then outscored Baldwin Wallace in the second half 5-3 to take the 18-4 victory.
 
The game was played for Morgan's message is trying to amplify stories, resources and expertise to strengthen student-athlete mental health, builds a community by and for athletes through peer-to-peer conversations and provides a platform for advocacy.
 
Mount Union will now advance to the OAC Tournament semifinals next Wednesday, May 3rd at home with a 7 p.m. start time. The Raiders will await the quarterfinal matchup between the No. 4-seed Marietta and No. 5-seed Otterbein winner that is held on Saturday at Marietta.
