Women's Lacrosse: Raiders Dominate In Win Over Oberlin

ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union women's lacrosse team used hot shooting to defeat Oberlin 15-2 on a cold snowy Tuesday afternoon game.
 
The Purple Raiders (3-1) were led on offense by a trio of hat tricks from Julia Bates (East Lyme, Conn. / East Lyme), Katie Clark (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) and Mackenzie Kolstad (Victor, N.Y. / Victor Senior). Kolstad also added an assist.
 
Madi Karr (Newark, Del. / Newark Charter) led Mount Union in points with six as she had five assists and one goal.
 
Abby Lindkvist (Greenlawn, N.Y. / Harborfields) made six saves in the cage for the Raiders only letting up two goals and Megan Casciola (McMurray, Pa. / Peters Township) led the Raiders in caused turnovers with four.
 
Oberlin (3-2) was led by Lauren Mills and Abbie Patchen with a goal a piece.
 
Mount Union jumped out to a 4-0 lead as Bates got two goals while Kolstad and Sam Karr (Newark, Del. / Newark Charter) got a goal each. Oberlin would score a goal before the end of the first quarter to make it 4-1.
 
Mount Union exploded for seven goals in the second quarter while the defense held Oberlin to none. Clark and Kolstad scored two goals while M. Karr, Bates, and S. Karr each scored a goal.
 
The third quarter Clark got a goal for the Raiders while Oberlin scored a man up goal but the rest of the quarter was silent as Mount Union led 12-2.
 
The fourth quarter saw three new goal scorers for the Raiders as Eden Kesler (Chagrin Falls / Kenston), Madeline McCrackin (Kings Mills / Kings) and Emily Funk (Strongsville) each got one and held Oberlin to zero for the final of 15-2.
 
Mount Union will stay home taking on Allegheny on Saturday, March 18th at 1 p.m. in Kehres Stadium.
