WASHINGTON, Pennsylvania—The Mount Union men's lacrosse team defeated Washington & Jefferson 14-11 Saturday afternoon.
Mount Union (2-3) was led by
Logan Gebhart (McDonald, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) with five goals and
Connor Addison (Mishawaka, Ind. / South Bend) with four goals.
Eli Ciotti (Canonsburg, Pa. / Linsly) added three goals while
Logan Addonizio had two goals for the Purple Raiders while
Liam Erwin (Victory, N.Y. / Victor Senior) finished with four assists.
Logan Gunderman (Hamburg, N.Y. / Hamburg) made eight saves for Mount Union while
Dane Matuscin (Washington, Pa. / Canon-McMillian) led the team in ground balls with seven.
Washington & Jefferson (3-3) was led by Sean McCaffery and Parker Lucas with three goals each.
Mount Union led 2-1 early on with a goal from Ciotti and Addison. W&J responded with a 4-1 run to lead 5-3 but Mount Union got a goal from Gebhart and Addison to tie the game up at 5 at the end of the quarter.
The Purple Raiders outscored W&J 3-2 in the second quarter as Addison, Addonizio and Gebhart each got a goal and Mount Union led 8-7 at the half.
A goal each from Ciotti, Addonizio and Gebhart pushed the lead out to 11-7 for Mount Union. W&J responded with two goals but Addison got another right before the end of the quarter to take a 12-9 lead.
Both teams got two goals in the final quarter as Mount Union got its from Ciotti and Gebhart.
Mount Union will return home next Saturday, March 18 at 4 p.m. taking on Edgewood College.
