ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Mount Union men's volleyball team won in straight sets against Thiel 25-23, 25-14, and 25-21 Saturday afternoon at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
The Purple Raiders (4-1) were led by senior
Luke Trzeciak (Cranberry/Seneca Valley) and freshman
Noah Koknat (Powell / Olentangy Liberty) with nine kills each.
Sophomore
Max Kaiser (Lewis Center / Olentangy) led Mount Union in assisted with 31 while Trzeciak led the Raiders in digs with eight while Kaiser had seven.
Thiel (3-6) was led by a trio with six kills while Ethan Cooper led in assists with 17. Connor McInnis led the Tomcats with seven digs in the match.
In the first set, the Raiders almost had a clean sheet with 14 kills and just one hitting error for a .433 hitting percentage while Thiel had 14 kills and six errors.
Set two went the way of Mount Union again with 17 kills this time with four hitting errors hitting .406 percent while Thiel had six kills and five hitting errors.
Mount Union kept its hot hitting in the final set with 13 kills and just five errors while Thiel had nine kills and six hitting errors.
Mount Union now heads on a long road trip not playing at home for almost a month and a half. The Raiders start their road trip with a game against Geneva on Tuesday, January 31 at 7 pm in Beaver Falls, Pa.
