ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's women's soccer team tied Waynesburg 2-2 in a non-conference matchup on Saturday night.
The Purple Raiders (1-0-1) struck first when senior
Andrea Decker (Hilliard / Hilliard Bradley) found the back of the net in the 12
th minute off an assist from freshman
Addyson Jones (Homeworth / West Branch). Mount Union would add to their lead in the 19
th minute off a goal by senior
Madison Pepper (Uniontown / Lake).
The Yellow Jackets (0-1-1) would cut into the lead in the 30
th minute when Brooklyn Loveland found the back of the net. Waynesburg would tie the game at two with just seven seconds left in the first half coming off a goal by Olivia Straka.
Neither team would be able to score in the second half, ending the game in a 2-2 draw.
Freshman goalkeeper
Michele Hofacker (Akron / Copley) recorded three saves in the second half shutout.
The Raiders return to action on Wednesday, September 7 at 7 p.m. against Allegheny (Pa.) at Kehres Stadium in Alliance.
