Raiders Sweep Penn State Behrend On The Road

ERIE, Pennsylvania – Mount Union Men's Volleyball team returned the favor as it swept Penn State Behrend 25-16, 25-22 and 25-22 Tuesday night.
 
The teams played earlier this season at Mount Union with Behrend taking the three sets 27-25, 25-20 and 27-25.
 
The Purple Raiders (9-10, 5-0 MVCL) were led by junior Cameron Ternent (Canal Fulton / Massillon Jackson) who finished with 14 kills.
 
Senior Sam Matonis (Macedonia / Walsh Jesuit) and junior Andrew Cross (St. Louis, Mo. / St. Louis University High) finished with nine kills each.
 
Freshman Will Heeney (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) and senior Jeremy Leyden (Cuyahoga Falls / Hoban) had 23 and 16 assists respectively.
 
Ternent led the Raiders with a team-high eight digs while junior Luke Trzeciak (Cranberry, Pa. / Seneca Valley) and freshman Aaron Armour (Waukesha, Wis. / Catholic Memorial) had seven digs each
 
Penn State Behrend (16-6) was led by JP Goodsel who had a game high 14 digs.
 
The first set the Raiders finished with 12 kills on just three hitting errors for a .333 hitting percentage while Behrend had 10 kills with 10 errors hitting 0-percent.
 
Mount Union had five hitting errors in the second set while having 15 kills with a .303 hitting percentage as Mount St. Joseph had 17 kills and seven hitting errors.
 
The final set saw Mount Union have 21 kills in the set with six errors with Behrend finishing with 12 kills and four errors.
 
Mount Union will now be home on Friday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m. with a match up against Fontbonne (Mo.). Both teams are currently undefeated in the MCVL as the winner will take over first place by themselves.
